Ernie Barnes 1938-2009Ernie Barnes who is known for his iconic art work has passed away after a brief illness. The man had many different careers during his lifetime. He played football and was the "Official Artist of the American Football League". .
His iconic painting Sugar Shack was used as the album art on Marvin Gaye's album I want you and it was also used on the television show Good Times. His paintings were used as the art work that character JJ was supposed to have painted. 
His art work is some of my favorite. I love the jubilation that is Sugar ShackEddie Murphy is said to own the original. You can read more about him here and here
